Nursery Nurse Job Description: Reading RG2

Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Plan & Deliver Engaging Activities: Create and implement age-appropriate, play-based learning activities that support the EYFS framework and promote children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.
- Childcare & Safeguarding: Provide for the day-to-day physical and emotional needs of children, including feeding, changing, and nap times. Maintain a vigilant, proactive approach to safeguarding, ensuring the welfare of every child is paramount.
- Observation & Assessment: Conduct regular observations of children's progress, maintaining accurate records and learning journals. Use these assessments to inform planning and provide constructive feedback to parents and carers.
- Partnership with Parents: Build strong, professional, and supportive relationships with parents and guardians, communicating effectively about their child's day, development, and any concerns.
- Team Collaboration & Environment: Work effectively as part of a nursery team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive, inclusive, and safe setting. Ensure the environment is clean, organised, and well-resourced.
Essential Requirements & Qualifications
Must-Have Criteria
- A recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification (CACHE, NVQ, or equivalent).
- Proven experience working as a Nursery Nurse, Early Years Practitioner, or similar within a UK setting.
- A solid, working understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- A valid, enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- Paediatric First Aid certification (or commitment to obtain).
Desirable Skills & Attributes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage children and adults alike.
- A patient, nurturing, and creative approach to childcare and education.
- Flexibility to work various shift patterns (full-time, part-time, mornings, afternoons).
